Our Place In History

Powerscourt started life as a 13th century castle over 800 years ago, before being transformed into its current grand Palladian mansion style by the 1st Viscount Powerscourt between 1730 and 1741. During your visit you’ll learn all about the families who’ve called Powerscourt home and the evolution of the estate over the centuries, starting with the introductory video in the house and then continuing with a free audio guide for the gardens, available as a free app.

WHAT OUR VISITORS SAY

An absolutely gorgeous garden. National Geographic rates it the third prettiest in the World. Was there for a couple of hours. Cafe was delicious.

Really worth a visit to the gardens, they are beautiful and you can easily spend a few hours here. The cafe sold really lovely food…something for everyone. Shops were lovely too… the house was closed so we will have to come back 🙂
