We aim to ensure that everyone can access our services, facilities and digital content with dignity and independence wherever reasonably possible, while respecting the conservation requirements of our historic estate.
We are working towards alignment with the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and best practice accessibility standards.
2. Physical Accessibility – Powerscourt House & Gardens
Accessibility Overview
There is good access to the Gardens, shops and Terrace Café. Wheelchairs are available to borrow during your visit. A €20 refundable deposit is required and we recommend booking in advance through Reception to avoid disappointment.
Please note:
• Access to the first-floor shops is not possible in a wheelchair due to several steps.
• Due to the historic layout and heritage features of the Estate, some garden areas may have access limitations.
Wheelchair users and families with buggies will find many areas accessible, and seating is available throughout the Gardens and at the Waterfall.

Parking
• Designated accessible parking spaces are available in the main car park.
• Disabled visitors may use the drop-off point at the front of Powerscourt House.
Accessible Routes
• A designated accessible route is available through Powerscourt Gardens.
• Reception staff are happy to advise on gradients, surfaces and recommended routes.
Toilets
• Accessible toilets are available within Powerscourt House.
• Accessible toilets are available at Powerscourt Waterfall.
• Facilities include grab rails and emergency alarm systems.
Lift Access
• A lift provides access to the Ballroom on the first floor of Powerscourt House.
• The lift is not for general public use. A staff member will accompany and assist visitors where required.
Café & Retail
• The Terrace Café and Terrace seating area are accessible.
• Ground floor retail areas are accessible.
• First-floor retail areas are not wheelchair accessible due to steps.
Wheelchairs
Wheelchairs are available from House Reception for visitors to the Gardens.

Carers & Personal Assistants
Carers travelling with visitors with disabilities are entitled to free admission to the Gardens.
Assistance Dogs
Dogs are not permitted in Powerscourt House.
Registered guide dogs and recognised assistance dogs are welcome.
3. Accessibility at Powerscourt Waterfall
• Ample parking close to the refreshment and toilet facilities.
• Accessible toilet facilities available.
• Surrounding areas are largely accessible; however, natural terrain may include uneven surfaces.
Visitors with specific mobility requirements are encouraged to contact us in advance.
4. Event Accessibility Policy
Powerscourt Estate is committed to providing an inclusive experience for guests attending events on the Estate.
Wheelchair Access
Key event areas are accessible to wheelchair users and guests with reduced mobility. Where level access is not available, alternative arrangements will be made in advance where possible.
Lift Access
Access to upper floors may be facilitated by staff supervision.
Seating
Seating is available at intervals throughout event spaces to support visitors who need to rest.
Limitations
Due to the historic nature of the Estate, some areas may have access restrictions. Where full access is not possible, we will work with organisers to provide suitable alternatives.
All arrangements must comply with health and safety procedures and staff instructions.
5. Sensory & Hidden Disabilities
We recognise that not all disabilities are visible.
Visitors who require additional time, assistance navigating the Estate, access to quieter spaces or support during busy periods are encouraged to speak with a member of staff on arrival.
Our team will do their best to assist respectfully and discreetly.
6. Emergency & Evacuation Procedures
Emergency evacuation procedures are in place to assist visitors with disabilities.
Staff are trained to provide assistance where required and will follow established safety protocols in the event of an emergency.
Visitors who may require assistance are encouraged to inform staff on arrival where possible.

Powerscourt Estate is committed to improving the accessibility of our website in line with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA.
We aim to ensure that users can:
• Zoom up to 200% without loss of content
• Navigate most of the website using a keyboard
• Use screen readers effectively
• Access clear, well-structured content
• View high-contrast text and readable fonts
We are continuously reviewing our website and digital communications to improve accessibility and usability.
Third-Party Content
Some third-party booking systems or embedded widgets may have accessibility limitations beyond our direct control. We are actively working with providers to improve compliance where possible.

Powerscourt Estate is committed to supporting visitors with diverse needs.
Where practicable, we will provide information in alternative formats upon request, assist visitors using mobility aids, offer guidance on accessible routes and support visitors in planning their visit.
