Over 150 people from the travel industry, local community, family and friends gathered at Powerscourt Estate in Wicklow last Thursday for an evening celebration in the gardens. The event was to mark the accolade from the National Geographic, which voted Powerscourt Gardens no. 3 in the World’s Top 10 Gardens. Other European countries to make it onto the list included Chateau de Versailles in France (1st) and the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, England (2nd).
Matthew Jackson, Managing Director of National Geographic Traveller, travelled to Wicklow to present the award to MD of Powerscourt, Sarah Slazenger. He enjoyed a private tour of the gardens with Head Gardener Michael Byrne. Guests enjoyed listening to a string quartet on the terraces overlooking the Sugarloaf Mountain and drinks and canapés in the gardens.
