Powerscourt Estate will celebrate creativity this upcoming St Brigid’s Day weekend with a craft showcase & inspiring event.

If you are looking for an inspiring and heartfelt experience this upcoming St Brigid’s Day long weekend.  Powerscourt Estate is hosting a unique five-day showcase of the work of skilled practitioners and artisans from Wicklow’s digital craft trail, in the beautiful surrounds of the entrance hall to Powerscourt House from the 1st to the 5th of February.

Craft Showcase Opening Times:

Thurs 1st February:  from 2pm

Friday 2nd – Monday 5th: 9.30 am – 5 pm

Location: Powerscourt House Entrance Hall (enter through side door at Avoca)

 

Wicklow Digital Craft Trail

County Wicklow Partnership and Wicklow Craft Foundation are delighted to announce the launch of Wicklow’s inaugural digital craft trail – “Made in Wicklow: Head, Heart & Hands,  on St Brigid’s Day, February 1st, at Powerscourt Town House, Enniskerry.   This  platform is a comprehensive showcase for 41 of Wicklow’s skilled craft practitioners & artisans and presents a curated display of the county’s unique, excellent and diverse craftsmanship.

“Made in Wicklow: Head, Heart, and Hands” not only brings together the collective talent of artisans.  it also introduces a new brand identity to the marketplace.   Full professional photography, including profile shots and product images, has been undertaken for each craft practitioner, accompanied by 19 captivating videos to vividly bring the story of Wicklow craft to life, all of which will be available to view online.   In addition, the platform also features a carefully curated “Recommended by” section, showcasing the support of 7 retail and supports of Wicklow craft, which will help build brand identity.

The initiative also aims to go beyond the celebration of this rich creative talent by offering an additional tourism offering for visitors planning a unique and authentic experience as part of their visit to the garden county.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Chairperson of County Wicklow Partnership Liz Wall stated ‘

‘ County Wicklow Partnership, in collaboration with  Wicklow Craft Foundation, is dedicated to promoting and preserving the rich tradition of craftsmanship in the county. Through strategic initiatives, collaborative efforts, and innovative platforms like “Made in Wicklow: Head, Heart, and Hands,” the partnership aims to contribute to the economic and cultural development of the region by supporting and showcasing the diverse talents of Wicklow’s craft practitioners’.  

To build excitement and community engagement, a 26-workshop craft series is currently been hosted across Wicklow libraries and simultaneously, an 8-week community pottery project is underway in Arklow to highlight the history and heritage of Arklow Pottery.

This project has been funded through the Transitional LEADER Rural Development Programme 2021 – 2023 and is supported by County Wicklow Partnership, Wicklow Co Co and Wicklow Craft Foundation.     County Wicklow Partnership and Wicklow Craft Foundation express gratitude to all supporters, collaborators, and contributors who have made this ongoing initiative possible.

“Made in Wicklow: Head, Heart, and Hands” is poised to be a transformative platform, providing a go-to destination for those seeking unique gifts or wishing to commission bespoke craft pieces.

Coming To Powerscourt?
WHAT OUR VISITORS SAY

This place is amazing. Soo beautiful. We’ve been many times and each time we love it. We chose to come in May but maybe next time we’ll head over in June hopefully to see all the flowers blooming. The walks are soo relaxing and the view is just amazing. This time we stayed for lunch and cannot praise enough their food. Such fresh and tasty soup and sandwiches and yummy desserts. Cannot wait for our next visit as even if it’s far away from where we live and takes almost 3 hours to drive, it’s just soo beautiful ?

We visited Powerscourt gardens for the first time in late October. The walled gardens still had a colourful display of flowers and shrubs, the trees were in wonderful autumn shades and the Japanese gardens were delightful with the Acers looking very attractive. Powerscourt is certainly worth travelling to see if you are in the area.

I’ve been here many years ago and the grounds are just as beautiful as I remembered. The new addition of shops, Avoca cafe, nursery and distillery just adds even more things to do. This is a great place to stop and spend sometime.

This garden was incredible. We went on a very rainy day and it was difficult to really enjoy the beauty that was there. We quickly walked thru the formal gardens, Japanese garden and tower house. The collection of trees were magnificent but it was raining too hard to read all the labels Would definitely go back if we get a chance.

The walled gardens are the most amazing flowers I have ever seen. I could have looked at them for hours. The rest of the grounds are very beautiful and peaceful when there aren’t large tour groups. The lunch at Avoca is very good, fresh and reasonably priced. You can even have some retail therapy at the stores. Again, the most amazing flowers!!!
